Meet Martha Silcott, inventor and CEO of FabLittleBag. Martha is 45 years old, a married mum of two and lives in North London. Here she describes her journey from a career in financial services to being an ambitious entrepreneur with a passion for Arsenal football team;

What inspired you to set up your business?

Frustration! Sitting on the toilet wrapping up my tampons with endless reams of toilet roll, thinking “there must be a better way?!”

What makes your you/your product special and where are you based?

FabLittleBag is special because it is the only sanitary disposal bag that is specifically designed for the purpose, with patented finger-loops so it opens one-handed. It provides an easy, discreet, hygienic solution that is also eco-aware, oh and it’s the only one in the world that looks fab! We’re based in London.
What’s the best piece of advice you have been given?

No progress without focus, I now call it Fogress!

What has been your greatest challenge?

SO Many!! The fact that there is only one of me and only 24 hours in the day and I need 7 hours sleep….; Until Penny joined in June 2016, it was juggling every aspect of the business from minutiae to critical decisions

How do you switch off?

Hmmmm, pretty hard to do in all honesty. I know all the books tell us we have to but it is definitely a “easier said than done” thing for me. I am a season ticket holder at the Arsenal and whilst watching Arsenal is probably even more stressful, it is a switch off from the business!  #musttryharder

Where do you go on holiday?

Last holiday was in Easter 2016 and we went to Mallorca for the first time for a 4 day break en famille – we loved it and am dying to go back…. there are countless places I want to visit though….

What lesson do you wish you had learnt at school?

How to type!! Age alert!!!! We didn’t have computers at school and I kind of missed them at Uni somehow so now I am not good on the keyboard and it drives me mad…. always writing form instead of from is a particular bugbear….
